Silver Valley's forested hillsides provide gateways to popular recreation areas, such as Golden Ears Provincial Park, and the creeks and rivers are some of the richest salmon habitat in the Lower Mainland. With this context in mind, it is the desire of the community to ensure that as growth occurs in Silver Valley, the elements that afford it a unique place in Maple Ridge will be preserved, protected and celebrated.
2025 Silver Valley Area Plan Update
The Silver Valley Area Plan OCP amending bylaw was adopted on November 25, 2025. This update modernizes the 2002 plan, consolidates and updates land use designations and policies, adds a zoning matrix, and incorporates additional density as required by Provincial legislation. Previous Work
The 2025 update attended the November 18, 2025 Public Hearing, which was held at 7:00PM in Council Chambers. The presentation and question period can be viewed here: Public Hearing Video
At the September 9, 2025, Committee of the Whole, staff presented the Silver Valley Area Plan Update for Council consideration of First Reading, with Council then giving First Reading at the September 16, 2025 Regular Council meeting.
